LONDON (MarketWatch) — Bayer on Friday put out its “concrete” plans on job cuts following its acquisition of Schering, saying it will cut 6,100 jobs globally, including 1,000 jobs in the U.S. and 1,500 jobs in Germany. It sees 700 million euros a year in savings from 2009. “We said right from the start of the integration that job cuts would be necessary in order to achieve the synergy targets,” said CEO Werner Wenning.
