SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Eli Lilly and Company said Wednesday that a judge has granted its request for a permanent injunction related to the selective leaking of confidential documents on Zyprexa to the New York Times. The company has been embroiled in litigation over claims that Zyprexa, a psychiatric drug used to treat schizophrenia, can trigger diabetes. The injunction was issued against several people, including Dr. David Egilman, a plaintiffs’ expert witness in the Zyprexa product liability lawsuits, and attorney James Gottstein, who, according to the judge, conspired with a Times journalist to leak documents to the newspaper, Lilly said. The injunction prohibits Egilman, Gottstein and eight others from further distributing the documents, and it requires that each return to the court all such documents and any copies of them in their possession, the company said.

You are going to have many difficulties. The smokers will not like your message. The tobacco interests will be vigorously opposed. The media and the government will be loath to support these findings. But you have one factor in your favour. What you have going for you is that you are right.
