Cloutier M, Golenski J.
RxHealthValue offers three recommendations and cost research
Journal of Managed Care Pharmacy 2001 Jan-Feb; 7:17-20

Abstract:

The recommendations of the RxHealthValue, a coalition of health care organizations, on independent research, direct-to-consumer advertising, and safety are presented, and results of the coalition’s first research project that examined 1996-1999 PCS prescription drug claims data to identify contributors to utilization and expenditure growth are presented. The research findings include information on utilization growth, costs per day, and variations across types of medications. The research suggests that expensive new drugs are being requested over older, cheaper, efficacious drugs without adequate head-to-head comparisons of their therapeutic benefit.
