Changing OTC landscape
Pharmaceutical Executive 2001 Mar; 21:82, 84, 86, 88, 90

Abstract:

Communications challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), pharmacy and consumer organizations, and other involved parties as they deal with issues involving Rx-to-OTC switches are discussed, including drug labeling and reimbursement, the initiation of Rx-to-OTC switches by the pharmaceutical industry vs the FDA, and potential dual regulatory status for OTC products, i.e., a simultaneous Rx and OTC existence and/or the creation of a transitional class of OTC pharmaceuticals that would require pharmacist consultations.
