New weapons in the fight against depression and breast cancer
New Zealand Pharmacy 2003; 23:(11):21

Abstract:

Two new drugs in the treatment of depression and breast cancer are discussed. Mirtazapine(Zispin SolTab), an antidepressant, is the first melt-in-the-mouth antidepressant and is expected to improve patient compliance. Arimidex (anastrozole) is to be subjected to a 10 yr trial for it’s use in the prevention of breast cancer and is suspected to be free of unexpected side effects, although more costly than the antineoplastic agent currently used. The UK are considering prescribing a new contraceptive patch (Evra) to forgetful women and the public mistrust of pharmaceutical advertising is discussed.
