Abstract:

Shares of Acorda Therapeutics Inc. rose in pre-market trading Tuesday after the biotech drug developer said it would more than double its sales staff to promote its Zanaflex anti-spasticity treatment.
The company plans to add 33 employees to its current staff of 32. 52 area business managers will meet with specialists and primary-care physicians, who are high-volume prescribers, the company said.

The current team reaches 3,200 specialists, and the new team will reach 7,400 specialists, according to Acorda.

Shares jumped 55 cents, or 3.4 percent, during pre-market electronic trading on the INET after closing Monday at $16.35 on the Nasdaq.
