Drug companies and information about drugs: recommendations for doctors. Characteristics of materials distributed by drug companies: four points of view
J Gen Intern Med 1996 Oct 01; 11:(10):642-4

Abstract:

A growing body of evidence indicates that information from commercial sources about drugs is often incomplete, inaccurate or biased. This flawed information likely affects doctors’ prescribing. The authors recommend that the medical profession should recognize the biased nature of the information; reduce the amount of drug company information in doctors’ lives and develop and disseminate ways to improve prescribing.
