Guardian writer wins cancer reporting award
Monday July 3, 2006
Guardian
Sarah Boseley, the Guardian’s health editor, has been named best cancer reporter by the European School of Oncology, Europe’s leading independent organisation of cancer doctors.
The judges were particularly impressed by an article on the breast cancer drug Herceptin. Professor Gordon McVie, of the European Institute of Oncology, Milan, who was one of the judges, said her coverage was “thorough, balanced, informed and articulate.
In the Herceptin article … she was courageous in standing up to the wave of euphoria which she had suspected might be driven by the pharmaceutical companies.”
