Koumjian K.
The use of valium as a form of social control.
Soc Sci Med [E] 1981 Aug; 15:(3):245-9

Abstract:

(Limited to parts of article dealing with promotion.) Drug treatment of anxiety using Valium is a process which redefines social problems as medical problems and by providing symptomatic relief from stress, discourages approaches which attempt to make more structural changes in society. One reasons why Valium is used in that way is due to the manner in which it is being promoted.
