Hibberd PL, Meadows AJ.
The pharmaceutical industry as a provider of drug information
Journal of Research Communication Studies 1981; 3:289-297

Abstract:

This paper describes the provision of drug information to medical practitioners by the British pharmaceutical industry and compares it with the provision of similar information by the state-controlled National Health Service. The investigation was carried out mainly by interview. It was found that only limited cooperation exists between the pharmaceutical industry and the NHS in the provision of drug information. Medical practitioners currently appear to turn preferentially to industry sources for such information.
