Abstract:

Major pharmaceutical companies have been cutting their sales forces to save costs, but an industry consultant thinks they should transform their promotional efforts more drastically.

In a new analysis, consultants from IMS Health Inc. (RX), Norwalk, Conn., say the industry should re-allocate about $15 billion in promotional spending across the top eight markets, because companies simply aren’t getting optimal returns for that money now.
