Synexus extends patient outreach through GP sales force
Synexus 2009 Feb 5

Full text:

Synexus has extended its ability to find more patients to take part in clinical trials in the UK through the launch of a GP practice sales force.

The sales force, initially comprising five clinical trial experts, will call on GPs surrounding the seven Synexus clinical sites in the UK. GPs are keen to be involved with clinical trials but lack the time and increasingly the specialised equipment now required in many trials. This partnership with Synexus allows them to become involved in the latest treatments whilst not compromising on their service to their own patients.

Synexus, who is a world leader in the recruitment of patients into clinical trials at its own research centres in Europe, Africa and Asia, is looking at rolling this out across its sites in Europe.

Synexus who recently found more than three thousand patients for a single study is developing a range of sophisticated tools to talk to patients about taking part in clinical trials.

Michael Fort, Chief Executive of Synexus, explains “The Synexus model of having our own clinical sites which are staffed by full time trained investigators has led to a huge demand for our services from pharma, bios and CROs. This new development of extending our outreach to GPs through this partnership agreement is just one of several new initiatives we are putting in place to reach patients”.

Far too large a section of the treatment of disease is to-day controlled by the big manufacturing pharmacists, who have enslaved us in a plausible pseudo-science...
The blind faith which some men have in medicines illustrates too often the greatest of all human capacities - the capacity for self deception...
Some one will say, Is this all your science has to tell us? Is this the outcome of decades of good clinical work, of patient study of the disease, of anxious trial in such good faith of so many drugs? Give us back the childlike trust of the fathers in antimony and in the lancet rather than this cold nihilism. Not at all! Let us accept the truth, however unpleasant it may be, and with the death rate staring us in the face, let us not be deceived with vain fancies...
we need a stern, iconoclastic spirit which leads, not to nihilism, but to an active skepticism - not the passive skepticism, born of despair, but the active skepticism born of a knowledge that recognizes its limitations and knows full well that only in this attitude of mind can true progress be made.
