LISTED pharmacy franchisor Health Information Pharmacy has today announced that it’s lodged a worldwide patent application for its ‘Chemconsult’ Patient Medication Counselling system.
CEO Ken Lee said the process uses a database to match patient and medication data, providing “considerable, unique statistical data relating to medication usage.”
He claimed that the system allowed HIP to “supply, for the first time, accurate, prompt feedback on medication use, compliance, sensitivities and possible interactions, as well as comparable commercial data.
“Negotiations are already under way with some manufacturers and distributors of prescription
pharmaceuticals for access to this valuable data,” he said.
HIP said the move meant that pharmacists would now have the potential to be “recognised and paid for the valuable work they do in advising on medication issues to help reduce medication problems and provide health outcomes.”
