A meta-analysis of trial data questioning the efficacy of antidepressants recently set off a media furore. As initiatives to improve transparency of clinical-trial reporting make such analyses increasingly feasible, ensuring that the potential benefits to medical decision-making are not overshadowed by the potential harms from flawed interpretation should be a priority.
