A Toms River man is suing the companies that produce NuvaRing, the contraceptive he believes led to his wife’s death in December, the Asbury Park Press reports.
The lawsuit filed by Robert Bozicev’s attorneys in state Superior Court in Essex County names Organon USA, Inc. the Roseland manufacturer and distributor of NuvaRing, and Schering Plough Corp. in Kenilworth, which purchased Organon in 2007.
Bozicev’s wife Jackie Kelly, the mother of two children under 2 years old, died of an obstruction to the arteries in the lungs caused by a blood clot in the pelvic veins, the Asbury Park Press reported, adding the lawsuit alleges that progestin in NuvaRing users may be at increased rise of blood clots, strokes and heart attacks.
