Abstract:

We wish to propose that all mental health nursing journals ask for a declaration of competing interests to be made by the authors of any article submitted for publication. The central concern behind this suggestion is that the absence of declarations of competing interests means peer reviewers, editorial panels and readers are deprived of information which may assist in their appraisal of articles, be they based on original research or otherwise…
