Full text:

A federal grand jury is probing drug maker Merck & Co’s marketing for its pain drug Vioxx, the Wall Street Journal reported on its Web site on Thursday.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Massachusetts is probing whether the company marketed Vioxx for uses other than those approved by regulators, the Journal reported, citing an unnamed source.

A representative for the U.S. attorney’s office could not be reached immediately for comment.

Merck spokesman Kent Jarrell declined to comment.
