Full text:
A NUMBER of patients who have suffered abnormal liver function after taking Prexige are contemplating suing Novartis over allegations of “high dosing and poor warnings” about the drug.
Prexige was withdrawn by the TGA last week, with lawyers saying they also have the TGA in their sights.
Simon Harrison of Qld law firm Robinson Hallets said “we want to know why the TGA was allowing
prescriptions to be authorised at 200mg and more”.
He said Prexige was only sold in 15 countries worldwide, with no other market selling doses above
100mg, and Australian labels for the medication not having the same liver damage warnings as
those for other nations.
