Some people say miracles don’t happen any more. But we say those people are nattering nabobs. Search “miracle” under health books at Amazon.com, and you’ll find miracles everywhere. “The Magnesium Miracle.” “The 7-Day Detox Miracle.” “The Coconut Oil Miracle.” “Miracle Sugars,” “The Antioxidant Miracle,” “The Miracle of Bio-Identical Hormones” – in all, we found 23,144 health-, mind- and body-themed books with “miracle” in the title. This surely is an amazing time we live in.

Sprouts are miraculous, we learn in “Sprouts: The Miracle Food.”

Fish oil is miraculous, reveals “The OMEGA-3 Miracle: The Icelandic Longevity Secret that Offers Super Protection Against Heart Disease, Cancer, Diabetes, Arthritis, Premature Aging, and Deadly Inflammation.”

Read “The pH Miracle” – and you’ll be able to “Balance Your Diet, Reclaim Your Health”!

Curl up with “The Detox Miracle Sourcebook,” a font of information on “Raw Foods and Herbs for Complete Cellular Regeneration”.

With “The 12-Day Body Shaping Miracle,” you can “Change Your Shape, Transform Problem Areas, and Beat Fat for Good!”

But if you’re really in a hurry you might prefer “The 7-Minute Miracle,” a “Breakthrough Program” that will help “Banish Spot Fat Forever”.

Apple cider’s a miracle, melatonin’s a miracle, whole grains are miracles, water is a miracle. And you can choose for yourself what to make of (or do with) “Miracles of Urine Therapy: Nature’s Natural Nectar to Cure Diseases.”

...to influence multinational corporations effectively, the efforts of governments will have to be complemented by others, notably the many voluntary organisations that have shown they can effectively represent society’s public-health interests…
A small group known as Healthy Skepticism; formerly the Medical Lobby for Appropriate Marketing) has consistently and insistently drawn the attention of producers to promotional malpractice, calling for (and often securing) correction. These organisations [Healthy Skepticism, Médecins Sans Frontières and Health Action International] are small, but they are capable; they bear malice towards no one, and they are inscrutably honest. If industry is indeed persuaded to face up to its social responsibilities in the coming years it may well be because of these associations and others like them.
