Triplicate prescriptions: benzodiazepines
American Druggist 1990 Apr; 201:64-66, 68, 70
Abstract:
The attitudes of drug manufacturers, physicians and pharmacists toward the decision of a New York State court extending triplicate prescription form requirements to benzodiazepines are discussed. The extent of the problem of benzodiazepine abuse, the dangers of patient stigmatization and breach of confidentiality and tracking of prescription patterns are also discussed. Since the implementation of this regulation in New York, the volume of benzodiazepines prescribed and dispensed has significantly decreased.
