Getting a grip on Medicaid costs

Abstract:

The efforts in Virginia, Georgia and Pennsylvania to reduce the costs of the Medicaid prescription drug program are discussed. Pending and current legislation in these states that targets the manufacturers of drugs as the cause of rising costs is described. Measures to allow states to negotiate with pharmaceutical industry for rebates and discounts similar to those given to hospitals are presented.
