Drugmakers fire back
Am Drug 1993 May; 207:7-8, 9
Abstract:
The efforts of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association (PMA) and the pharmaceutical industry to defuse the current trend toward price controls on prescription drugs are described. The activities of the PMA include embracing managed competition and lobbying for comprehensive drug benefits and a voluntary program to limit price increases; the pharmaceutical industry’s activities include lobbying and mounting public relations campaigns to convince the public, state lawmakers, and the media that federal price controls would be a disaster and stifle development of new products.
