Gatty B.
Feds widen probe of pharmaceutical industry marketing and promotional practices
Hospital Formulary 1994 Oct; 29:724, 723

Abstract:

An investigation of marketing and promotional practices by the pharmaceutical industry by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Department of Justice is discussed, including the practices of gift giving in exchange for prescribing prescription products, and providing grants to physicians for studies of questionable scientific value. The indictment of Genentech in Minnesota for alleged kickbacks to a physician to induce him to prescribe a growth hormone is also discussed.
