Abstract:

The use of prescription drug formularies by managed care organizations, especially health maintenance organizations, to promote rational, well-designed, cost-saving therapy, including formulary considerations, the role of the pharmacy and therapeutics committee, formulary organization, and government and manufacturer involvement in the formulary process, is presented.
