Abstract:
The increase in direct-to-consumer advertising by competing manufacturers of allergy therapies, resulting from the proposal by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to withdraw Seldane (terfenadine) and its generics from the market is described; consumer, physician, managed care organizations, and pharmacist attitudes toward these advertising programs are presented.
