The authors wrote an editorial to accompany an article about safety and efficacy of the weight reduction drug dexfenfluramine. After the editorial was written, it was learned that the editorialists had had dealings with Interneuron Pharmaceutical (the U.S. sponsor of the drug) and Servier (the European manufacturer). In this letter the authors explain their position on this possible conflict of interest.
