Abstract:
Although there was initial enthusiasm for the use of Septrin (co-trimoxazole) the incidence of serious side effects lead to recommendations for restrictions on its use. The advertising campaigns from Hoffman LaRoche and Wellcome did not reflect these reservations. The companies were found to have breached the Code of Conduct of the Australian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association but the companies did not have to provide corrective information.
