Ketorolac (Toradol): a new analgesic or an old NSAID?
CMAJ 1993 May 15; 148:(10):1693-5
Abstract:
The official product monograph clearly states that ketorolac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, but it acts predominantly an analgesic rather than an anti-inflammatory agent. Ariano et al do not consider all of the costs when they compare the cost of ketorolac with that of narcotics and they use the wrong comparators when they compare the cost of ketorolac with that of other NSAIDs. The facts in the ads for ketorolac stand. Before prescribing a new drug most physicians refer to the complete prescribing information for the product.
