Abstract:

The letter points out that there was no pharmaceutical company involvement or sponsorship in the development of guidelines for the detection and management of dyslipidemia. However the costs of publication of the document was borne by a drug company and acknowledged. In an addendum to the letter the editor of the New Zealand Medical Journal states that an advertisement regarding a product may not appear within an article relevant to that product, but may appear before or after the relevant article.
