Re: the promotion of chloramphenicol/streptomycin and Benadryl Expectorant and Humagel
1992 May;
Abstract:
This is a followup letter since MaLAM has not yet received a reply about the marketing of chloramphenicol/streptomycin. Although Warner-Lambert said that all references to expectorant action were being removed from Benylin/Benadryl labelling Benadryl Expectorant is still being sold in Australia. In the Philippines, the subsidiary of Warner-Lambert is selling Humagel, a combination of paromomycin/kaolin/pectin for diarrhea in children. The scientific literature does not support the use of this product for this indication.
