Liebman M.
Pharmaceutical ads in journals.
Ann Intern Med 1992 Oct 1; 117:(7):617

Abstract:

The study by Wilkes et al lacks credibility because it assumes that reviewers of scientific studies can apply the same criteria to the content of prescription drug advertisements. The authors did not take into account the brief summary of prescribing information that has to accompany every advertisement. The Food and Drug Administration must approve all promotional materials for new products before release.
