Beaufour-Ipsen Smecta (smectite)

September 1996

Vol 14 Issue 9/10 Follow-up: Beaufour-Ipsen is "extremely scandalized" by MaLAM's suggestion that promotion of Smecta (smectite) may divert both doctors' and families' attention away from oral rehydration therapy. However they have provided no evidence to support the symptomatic efficacy of Smecta other than a single study with controversial results. News: WHO guidelines for drug donations.
