Schondelmeyer SW.
Economic aspects of switch
Drug Information Journal 1990; 24:(1):57-66

Abstract:

Economic aspects of the prescription to over-the-counter switch are discussed, including general economics of health care, consumer perceptions of health-care costs, economics of prescription drugs, pharmacists’ opinions of switches, manufacturers’ switch decisions, the life cycle of drug products, and the pharmacy-industry interface. It is concluded that there will be increasing pressures for prescription to OTC switch because of the economic impact it can have on the pharmaceutical industry.
