Abstract:
The development of new drug products and impediments for the pharmaceutical industry from synthesis to regulatory clearance to bring a prescription drug to market are discussed, including the importance of research and development in the development of new drugs, principles of rational drug design, new approaches for the screening of new drugs for pharmacologic activity, assay methodologies for new drugs, and newer techniques for drug screening.
