A consumer advocate group’s viewpoint regarding the ethics of pharmaceutical industry advertising of prescription drugs on the British Medical Journal World Wide Web site (eBMJ), especially because of consumer access to the site, is presented; a brief reply to the viewpoint from the editor of the BMJ is included.
