Abstract:
Due to economic necessity the Medical Journal of Australia was forced to place advertisements next to related articles. The editor of the MJA resigned because of this. Editors must convince their publishers that loss of credibility is more dangerous to a journal’s long term survival than any short term financial difficulty.
