Are pharmaceutical ads deceptive?
Food and Drug Law Journal 1994; 49:7-19
Abstract:
This paper analyzes the qualitative and quantitative results of Wilkes study on pharmaceutical advertisements in medical journals and criticizes them. Policy recommendations from the Wilkes study are discussed and evidence indicating that these recommendations are incorrect is presented. The author contends that the Wilkes study does not present any evidence of actual deception or inappropriate prescribing behaviour.
