Ethics in pharmaceutical advertising.
Dermatol Clin 1993 Apr 01; 11:(2):285-8
Abstract:
One of the reasons why the pharmaceutical industry has been so profitable is due to the massive marketing and advertising. Pharmaceutical marketing affects doctors’ medical meetings, journals and prescribing patterns. Companies are now advertising direct-to-consumers. The Food and Drug Administration regulates the labeling and advertising of prescription drugs. Various professional associations have developed ethical guidelines for the support of continuing medical education.
