Abstract:

The report discusses the various forms of promotion used by companies: journal advertisements, sales representatives, bribes and gifts, and sponsored symposia. It also points out the inadequacies in industry self-regulatory codes. Finally, the report gives the findings of a pilot study to assess the implementation of the World Health Organization’s Ethical Criteria for Medicinal Drug Promotion.
