Kessler DA.
Addressing the problem of misleading advertising.
Ann Intern Med 1992 Jun 1; 116:(11):950-1

Abstract:

A study in the Annals of Internal Medicine found a high proportion of drug advertisements that appeared to violate existing Food and Drug Administration regulations. In 1991, the FDA has initiated a project to identify the types of clinical-statistical problems most frequently found with studies cited to support product claims that were determined to be misleading.
