Chren MM.
Industry-funded dermatologic research within academia in the United States: fiscal and ethical considerations.
J Invest Dermatol 1992 Nov; 99:(5):664-5

Abstract:

The author contends that to best serve the interests of society, patients and the medical profession more is needed than formal guidelines that simply encourage open communications and disclosure when it comes to the research by academic scientists that is funded by industry. She suggests that all funds for research from commercial sources to doctors or their institutions be pooled and distributed by an independent intermediary, which would award grants on the basis of scientific worth.
